Riverton Veterans Album updated with new names and photos

The Memorial Day ceremony at the Riverton War Memorial on May 27, 2012 added fourteen new names to the Veterans Honor Roll. We post here our Riverton Veterans Album which shows the names of all veterans now listed on the Riverton War Memorial as well as many of their service photos.

The Honor Roll Album is a 55-page virtual scrapbook full of photos, news clippings from the hometown New Era newspaper, period advertisements,  wartime posters, even ration stamps.

If you can supply another item that would add to this Historical Society tribute to the men and women of Riverton who have served the United States. please send us a scan. – John McCormick, Gaslight News editor

  1. My father lived in Riverton for 25 years and I have just found his name in the Honor Roll Album. I have a picture I can scan but i need an email address to send it to. His name is Richard F. Payne. Thank you

    1. Hi, Karen – I replied separately thru my personal email so you can send me a scan of your father. Best regards, John

    2. Hi, Karen
I revised the Veterans Album and just posted it yesterday on our website. https://rivertonhistory.com/2013/12/veterans-day-2013-prompts-a-major-revision-of-the-riverton-veterans-album/
Your dad’s name is on the plaque pictured as well as mentioned in the list in the Riverton Veterans Album. The PDF file is a large one – 163 slides. His photo is on slide #30.
I am always adding to and revising the slideshow so if you think of anything else you want to show in our virtual scrapbook, send me a scan or a digital photo file.
      Best regards,
      John McCormick

      1. Karen,
Your dad’s name is actually on one of the original plaques within the Memorial, not he new plaque in the photo. However, I understand that a goal of the Veterans Committee headed by Mr. Smyth is to eventually get all of the names put on new plaques and displayed within the Memorial.
        John
