  1. In the background you can see a brown building that was the merry-go-round house ,at 98th St. The house, not the merry-go-round,was still in existence in the 1940’s,and became a low cost hotel. Our family stayed there many years for our week at the beach.By the early 60’s,it was torn down, because the big hotels that had sprung up all around it considered it an eyesore. But to us it was wonderful. At high tide near full moon, the water would come up under the house, you could feel the surf pounding.I saw a man fishing off the back balcony, pull in a hugh sea bass so big it did not fit in the kitchen sink!
