Postmen help dedicate Philadelphia’s new Post Office, May 25, 1935

Going on a walk on their day off, a thousand uniformed postmen form in ranks as they parade through the streets of Philadelphia to take part in the formal dedication of the City of Brothery Love’s new post office building. Postmaster General James A. Farley, and, the Hon. Joseph F. Gallagher Postmaster of Philadelphia were among the dignitaries who spoke at the ceremonies. As a side note, this photo was taken on May 25, 1935 when the first autogiro flights would commence scheduled air mail service carrying mail between the Philadelphia General Post Office and Camden Central Airport across the Delaware River in New Jersey
