Learn also about the first general meeting of the season planned for October 10, 2013. Dorothy Stanaitis will present Scandals, Rumors, and Dirty Rotten Lies, an entertaining examination of what topics were grist for the gossip mills of Colonial Philadelphia.

Riverton Free Library Director Michael Robinson’s recent eBay purchase of a infant’s portrait prompted him to delve more deeply into a topic first mentioned in a column authored in this publication by Town Historian Betty B. Hahle in 1984. Quite possibly some family albums today hold more photographs bearing the Lothrop Photography logo.
The distinguished Honor Roll of Riverton Military Veterans grew by ten names this past Memorial Day. Please help us secure more service photos of veterans for the Riverton Veterans Album PDF.

Mrs. Helen Hughes, new owner of the Biddle Mansion at 207 Bank Avenue, intends to renovate and restore the historic residence “to its former grandeur.”
Cynthia Klabe Roberton schools us muggles in the basics of geocaching around Burlington County.
The Borough Veterans Day observance will include adding several more names to the Honor Roll on Riverton War Memorial.

HSR President Gerald Weaber appeals to members to support Marking Time in Riverton, an ambitious new set of initiatives to preserve and promote local history.
Our Museum-for-a-Day at the New Leaf Tea Room, in cooperation with the Library’s Candlelight House Tour, is a rare opportunity to share some of the HSR’s seldom seen historical treasures with the community.
A State of the Website 11 months and 50 blog posts after our website reset last January invites readers to visit, and comment at rivertonhistory.com.
Members received an insert form with which they can renew their membership for 2012 and possibly choose to make a donation toward the special projects agenda set forth in Marking Time in Riverton: Preserving and Promoting Local History.
